* For clients who currently have a Probate case with us *
After someone has died there are a lot of things to sort out and we know that this can be very stressful. We appreciate that going through the Probate process to finalise an estate can be a difficult and emotional time for the loved ones that are left behind and this has become increasingly challenging due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
We are being impacted by delays
Currently, we are being impacted by delays beyond our control as we are waiting for input from companies to progress Probate cases. We are seeing delays on valuing property, bank accounts and other assets and from the Probate Registry. Responses to our letters which once took 2 weeks, can now take 6 weeks and 5-10 minute phone calls are now taking 1-2 hours on hold. Unfortunately, the impact of this on our clients is that we are not able to return calls, or respond to emails, as promptly as we would like to.
Contacting us
Please be assured that if you have emailed or called us, we will come back to you as soon as we can. Respectfully, we ask our clients not to send further emails, or leave further messages as this may cause more delays. Our team are working very hard to move all Probate cases forward as quickly as they can and are trying where possible to minimise these delays.
The timelines we are working towards
We understand it is a very difficult time for clients with Probate cases and we take this really seriously. Our team are regularly working evenings and weekends and are constantly chasing all parties to enable them to progress cases.
Normally, we advise that an application for Probate could be completed within 4-6 weeks from an application being submitted. However, at the moment we are advising 8-12 weeks and unfortunately in some cases this is much longer.
Thank you for your patience and understanding
We are very sorry to those clients who are being impacted by these delays. We are doing everything we can and we will update clients directly as soon as there is new information to share.
