How to mix work and study – Saphia

Last week was National Apprentice Week – a week where we celebrated our amazing apprentices and the fresh approach and ideas they bring. So we thought we’d turn the spotlight on one of our apprentices, Saphia who is building her career in the legal world.

Saphia started as a new apprentice in October 2019.

Why did you choose the apprentice route?

The reason I chose to do my apprenticeship is because I wanted to work full time to be able

to support myself financially but also be able to gain experience working in a law firm, learn more about my role in admin and come out with a qualification at the end of it. Having only worked a part time job before whilst I was still studying in college, I found it to be too much as I would be in college during the week and struggling to find time to do my assignments whilst working at the weekends.

Now in my apprenticeship, I can complete my coursework during my working hours to be able to achieve my qualification and not overwork myself 7 days a week whilst still earning my own income.

Doing an apprenticeship has allowed me to learn and experience more about being a business administrator with a more hands-on approach and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to gain experience in a job they are interested in!

What are you studying?

Level 2 Business Admin

What do you like about the job?

I like the people, I enjoy being in the office new will files, filing, archiving scanning post, assigning the post, I feel like I’m learning

What’s it like to work in the Private Client team?

Very good, I enjoy it a lot – everyone works well as a team. It gets a bit stressful sometimes but everyone is really supportive of each other.

What does the future look like?

Hopefully I’ll stay here but possibly after my apprenticeship I may to go to Law School. Being here allows me to get an idea of the different roles in the industry which will help me decide what to do next.
